I just had breakfast with my parents at the Roundel. The day is sunny (and cold). Things are pretty dece. Last night was beer-tasting at Simon's and lots of friends were there. Then Adam and Kim and I went and played with Kim's kittens. Earlier in the day I rode my bike to Dressew and bought a bunch of sewing supplies, and then did some mending/improving of clothing. Friday night I hung out with Mav and we went to the crafty night at Kim's house. He's only got time to see me once a week these days (school is making him head-splodey), but the time we do have together has been really lovely. He's awesome.

Watching all that Project Runway has got me interested in clothing again. I'm pretty horrible at sewing, but I want to learn more about it so I can get better. Adam tells me he'll lend me his sewing machine for a while since he hardly ever uses it. I'm going to start by trying to make a winter version of a wrap skirt I already own. My mom says she'll help me.

I'm reading The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon, and of course it's pretty great. It's sci-fi (alternate history) and it's also got that film noir detective feel, and all the characters are hardened sarcastic Jews. Two thumbs up so far.

I don't know what my plans are for the day, but I'm feeling optimistic about whatever it is. And that's extra good because earlier this week the hormones in my birth control (which I've recently started taking again) were making me insane. I thought I was going to lose it completely on Friday night, but going to Kim's and playing with kittens was a good move. There's very little kittens can't improve (unless it involves minimizing poop, because boy do four kittens create a lot of poop).

I've never been into 'Dressew' and I don't know what the name is actually about, but I always read it as 'Dresser' spoken in a faux-toddler voice.

Heh.
It is kind of an irritating name. I think it's supposed to be like "dress-sew". It's a fabric/sewing store.
